How Often Should You Clean Your Pool in Queensland?
Marcus Chen · 10 March 2025
Queensland’s climate is hard on pools. High UV, heavy rain, and warm water create the perfect conditions for algae. Your cleaning schedule needs to adapt.
Summer (December–February)
Weekly service is non-negotiable.
- UV burns off chlorine fast
- Bathers introduce contaminants
- Storms dump debris and dilute chemicals
- Water temperature above 26°C accelerates algae growth
Our Crystal plan (weekly, $55/visit) is designed for summer conditions.
Autumn (March–May)
Weekly or fortnightly, depending on leaf load.
- Deciduous trees drop leaves
- Rain becomes less frequent but heavier
- Water temperature drops, slowing algae
If you have lots of trees overhead, stay weekly. If not, fortnightly is fine.
Winter (June–August)
Fortnightly is usually sufficient.
- Low UV = stable chlorine
- Cold water = dormant algae
- Fewer swimmers
But don’t ignore it entirely. Stagnant water breeds bacteria.
Spring (September–November)
Back to weekly.
- Pollen and blossoms increase organic load
- Temperature rises
- First storms of the season
